Overview :
Released worldwide on 9th Nov, 2010, the game is the seventh installment of the Call of Duty series, and the first to be set in the Cold War. The player assumes the role of a soldier and can wield various weapons(two at a time) like Pistols, Crossbows, Shotguns, Light Machine Guns, Submachine Guns, Sniper Rifles, Assault Rifles and the more deadly Launchers. Also you can use Grenades like frag, sticky, flashbangs etc.
Campaign :
In the campaign mode, the player will assume the role of various characters, thus changing perspectives throughout the story. The player is given a series of objectives in each mission which is displayed on the heads-up display. The player is accompanied by friendly troops. The player gets a chance to pilot a Hind helicopter and guide friendly troops from a SR-71 Blackbird reconnaissance aircraft.

Seen for the first time in the COD series, Alex Mason is a Studies and Observation Group(SOG) operator and the main playable character.
Jason Hudson
Nicknamed - "Ice Cube" , "Rock" , "Mr. Shades" , Hudson is a CIA agent responsible for handling Alex Mason. He is one of the main playable characters.
Viktor Reznov
Appearing the first time in Call of Duty : World at War, Viktor was a Russian squad leader who has a huge influence on Alex Mason in Call of Duty : Black Ops.
Setting :
Call of Duty : Black Ops takes place during the Cold War. The missions take place in various locations around the globe such as the Ural Mountains in Russia, Cuba, Laos and Vietnam. The Single-Player campaign revolves around an experimental Soviet chemical weapon called "Nova-6".
The player mainly controls the SOG operative Alex Mason and occasionally CIA agent Jason Hudson. Several historical figures are also featured like : John F. Kennedy, Robert McNamara and Fidel Castro.
